That's really appalling!!!
It's the same mindset that makes them expect the MOH to take care
of their aged parents. And mind you, some of them really can wash
their hands off caring for their parents altogether one!
And sometimes, these are the rich folks but yet,
they treat their parents so shabbily! 
Reminds me of this Chinese tale where a young boy saw how his
parents packed his elderly grandfather into a basket, preparing to
dump him at the side of a hill.
Midway in the journey back, after they'd 'discarded' the grandpa,
the boy had a conversation with his dad and he told the dad, ''Dad,
it's ok... next time when you're old and sickly, don't worry, I'll
do the same to you!''
The father turned pale, and with a shock, realised that he's
teaching his own son the wrong values. Feeling extremely guilty and
remoseful, he trudged back to bring the grandpa home with
them.
Children learn what they see.
